Fundraiser for people in need in Haiti
It’s been weeks since Haiti was devastated by a catastrophic earthquake. Since then, we’re not hearing as much about relief efforts, but they are on-going. Haiti still needs our support and prayers.
As you know, our Bosnian members and NGOs we met during our field visits all asked us to do something for Haiti . ˝We received so much during the war and since, we cannot just watch the poor Haitians˝ were their comments. Therefore the IWCS decided to partake in the Bosnian effort for Haiti and is donating all the profits of this party to the International Red Cross fund for Haiti .
The restaurant room of Coloseum was transformed in a gigantic Mardi Gras party place in the colors of the New Orleans Mardi-Gras: Gold, Green and Purple. Masks, confetti, bead necklaces decorated the tables with pineapples as center pieces, and party favours for each at their reserved spot. Dinka Cammett, IWCS president, presented certificates to the 3 top selling countries in the bazaar Slovenia, France and Greece and to our Platinum sponsors: Energogroup, Termalna Riviera Ilidza, Arcco design, Turkish Airlines and Dom Mladih Skenderija. Mr. Sebastien Bole-Besancon from the ICRC praised the efforts of the IWC and thanked everyone for their participation in helping Haiti.
Guests were dressed in an amazing array of colours and imagination. Women in pinks, blues, greens and purples all looked stunning. The men staying on the safe side with dark colours and we should salute our Greek guest dressed as a Scotsman for being the only man wearing a costume! We hardly had time to hit the bountiful buffet that already some were on the dance floor and kept dancing ill late. The band ˝The Groove makers˝ with their amazing singer played all our favorites and we just could not stop! We had not have so much fun in a long time! Photos will come soon!
The IWCS warmly thanks Coloseum Club for their extreme generosity in organizing this event and for providing welcome drinks. This company is really committed to humanitarian efforts. We also thank the band ˝The Groove makers˝ for their generosity.
Thank you to the French PX, Samshop, the European Commission representation in BiH, Logo Asian and Irene Bernsten for their donations for the raffle. Thank you to Dinka Cammett from Second Skin Day Spa, Marija and Kevin Sullivan for their generous donations and the ladies from the Malaysian embassy for their help.
Thank you to all who sold tickets and helped with the organization: Dinka Cammett, Irene Bernsten, Elvira Furnari, Rebecca Mesbah, Anja Imberg, Sandrine Bardouil and to their husbands who were constantly given errands to run and helped with taking down the decorations after the last guests were gone!
We'll be counting up all donations as soon as possible and will let you know how much we have raised.
