IWCS International Women´s Day Party
“What a great party! The Club did it again!”
-a recurring statement heard many times over during the party
Our fund-raising event at the Coloseum-Club to support the Šareni Park project was a blast! Johnnie Walker and Baileys (courtesy of company Boreas) served our guests a welcome drink. All our members were looking very glamorous!
Anja Imberg and Rebecca Mesbah gracefully welcomed our guests and ushered them to their tables. Nerka Jugo and Metsa Kuc spoke with the press and did a wonderful job getting our story out to the public!
The night started with Ivana Pliska playing the violin. She set the tone by playing a magical piece which was like a bird calling everyone to attention.
Elvira Furnari was our ‘mistress of the ceremony’ for the evening. With style, composure and grace, she led us through our fun and cosmopolitan evening.
Sophie Limonier handed out certificates in acknowledgement of the Highest Earning Bazaar Table 2008.
The Highest Earning Table Contest is a contest among embassies who participate at the Bazaar. This year’s highest earning tables were:

• 4th place Embassy of Greece
• 5th place Embassy of Italy
Thank you to all of the participating embassies. e contest is open for the 2009 Bazaar!
A special thank you goes to Sophie Limonier who was such an important driving force behind the 2008 Bazaar and took responsibility for the extraordinary logistical organization.
Samra Ljutovic, our guest of honour, gave a very inspiring keynote speech. A member of the IWCS, she is also an active member of the Foundation .La Voix de l’Enfant. (The Voice of Children), managing projects for children refugees and war orphans. In 1992, one of these projects received the Award of the Republic of France (Prix de la République Française) which acknowledges humanitarian and social projects. At present, Samra works on projects for the Foundation to put in place computers in Bosnian schools. She participated in a project of Médecins du Monde in cooperation with the Red Cross to record testimonials of civilians imprisoned in war camps and victims of war rapes during the Bosnian war. “this is the hardest thing I´ve ever done in my life” she says. Samra now works in Sarajevo in a large distribution
company as head of human resources. “I was born in Paris of Bosnian parents. I am 100% French, even 100% Parisienne, but also 100% Bosnian and 100% European. Sometimes maths have nothing to do with identities!” she says. One of Samra´s key messages in her inspiring speech was:
“Beyond the words we can use to describe volunteers and voluntarism there is the generosity. It is about sharing. It is about the unselfish gift of themselves as well as this beautiful will to do something good for their souls, the sense of belonging to this human race on this one plane. It’s important to point out this amazing force volunteers represent in building civil society. Ultimately, volunteers are a group of men and women stating YES; WE CAN DO IT! History has shown us that human beings need this feeling to build, and rebuild, entire countries.”
Thank you again Samra for your support of the IWCS and our special project for the children of Sarajevo.
One of our largest sponsors for Šareni Park is M-tel. The telecom company M-tel shows again its commitment to socially responsible business through its support for the care of our youngest. Šareni park project is only one of a number of projects for children which M-tel supports. M–tel also donated 3 mobile packages for the Raffle at the party. Other prizes were 6 packages of L’Occitane, products donated by our member Kasey Vannett, a luxury week-end at Termag Hotel, a full-day beauty treatment at Merona Spa, gifts from Coloseum-Club, Krka and Avon.
Danijela Mijatovic a famous Bosnian model and TV host was the ‘innocent hand’ for the Raffle.
Drago Gavranovic gave us an overview of the upcoming Beauty week-end for which IWCS members will enjoy VIP treatment.
After the generous buffet dinner, where many of us overindulged, it was time to dance!
The band Unplugged Plug, who played for a reduced fee for Šareni Park, ensured that everyone would quickly get on the dance floor and stayed there till well after midnight. Thank you Unplugged Plug for your generosity.
The whole evening was covered by our favourite “mamarazzi” Shereen Samir. Thank you Shereen for never forgetting your camera so we can have nice memories in print!
Thank you also to Despina Kitsopanidou and Madina Jones for the pre-sales of tickets and to Rebecca Mesbah for designing the flyer.
The evening raised 3200 KM for the project Šareni Park. Thank you to all who attended and supported us.
